Shelburne Cultural Council surveys Mohawk Trail Regional School students
Each year Local Cultural Councils are encouraged by the Mass Cultural Council to set their Priorities for the upcoming Fall grant application program. While MCC sets the general eligibility requirements, local councils may give different weight to their criteria to reflect their community’s cultural needs and concerns. Councils solicit input from their communities to help develop these locally-assessed Priorities.
This year the Shelburne Cultural Council developed a pilot program that focuses on our area’s young people. We feel it is essential students feel included, valued and heard in community decisions. We thank the students of Mohawk Trail Regional School for responding to our survey, all the teachers involved, and Principal Chris Buckland for helping Owen Bragdon, SCC Co-Chair and MTRS paraprofessional, with its facilitation. We are now processing their responses for our this fall’s 2023 grant application cycle.
As a special appreciation for participating, two students were randomly selected to receive a gift certificate from Mo’s Fudge Factor in Buckland. A heartfelt thank you to Mo’s for their generosity and support in making these certificates available to the students!
